Childcare worker charged with causing death of seven-month-old baby at daycare

A CHILDCARE worker was charged at the Magistrate's Court in Petaling Jaya today with the murder of a seven-month-old baby boy at a nursery last week.

Balqish Mohammad Dzyhan, 28, who was wearing a pink dress, lowered her head and nodded in understanding after the charges were read out before Magistrate Farah Azura Mohd Saad.

However, no plea was recorded from the accused as the case was under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

According to the charge, the woman is accused of murdering Muhammad Eiden Faheem Mohammed Nor Syafiq at a nursery in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, between 9.30 and 10.40 am on May 5.

The charge was made under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a sentence of death or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years.

Deputy Public Prosecutor, Ainul Athirah Jamalullail, prosecuted, while Datuk Suraj Singh represented the accused.

No bail was granted to the accused, and the court set July 14 for the post-mortem report and chemical report.

Also present in the proceedings was the lawyer representing the victim's family, Nur Syakirah Nor Azam Shah.

The court set July 14, 2026, as the date for the case to be mentioned again and no bail was offered. – May 14, 2026
