Under the ‘Bright Minds Punjab-2026’ initiative, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and AAP’s Punjab affairs in-charge and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday honoured 500 meritorious students who secured 85 per cent or more marks in the Class XII board examinations at a district-level function in Tarn Taran.

Tarn Taran MLA Harmeet Singh Sandhu and Baba Bakala MLA Dalbir Singh Tong were among those present at the event.

Addressing the gathering, Bains said children were the future of the state, and the country. He urged parents to prioritise their children’s education so that they could achieve professional success and bring laurels to Punjab, and the nation.

The Education Minister announced that artificial intelligence (AI) would be introduced as a subject for students from classes VI to XII. He added that the CM Bhagwant Mann-led government had undertaken development works worth over Rs 130 crore in schools across the border district of Tarn Taran.

Bains highlighted the achievement of the School of Eminence, Khadoor Sahib, which won a national award in the ‘Clean and Green Schools’ category.

Interacting with the students, Sisodia praised the initiative and said a country’s progress was intrinsically linked to the strength of its education system. If education improved, the country would improve, he added.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Aditya Sharma, District Education Officer Rajesh Kumar, Deputy District Education Officer Rajinder Kaur, principals of various schools, teachers, students and their parents also attended the event.
