The horrific incident in Kampung Baru Cheras, where two children were burnt after being doused with petrol and set on fire at a playground, has shocked the community. The Cheras District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Zam Halim Jamaluddin, reported that the victims, a two-year-old child and his mother, were attacked by two foreign men who were intoxicated.

According to the police report, the victims were approached by the suspects while they were at the playground. The suspects then instructed the victims to buy petrol and fill it in a bottle. When the victims complied, the suspects proceeded to pour the petrol on them and set them on fire.

The father of the child, a 32-year-old Rohingya man, reported the incident to the police. He stated that he had gone to the playground to pick up his son when the attack occurred. As a result of the attack, the father suffered 30 percent burns on his face and body, while his son sustained minor injuries.

The victims are currently receiving treatment at a hospital, and the police are actively pursuing the suspects, who are 26 and 35 years old. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of playgrounds, especially in residential areas. Parents and guardians are reminded to be vigilant and cautious, especially when taking children to public spaces.

The community has expressed shock and outrage over the brutal attack on the innocent victims. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
