DENPASAR - China Eastern Airlines began direct flights between Beijing Daxing and Bali on July 11, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport said on July 12.
Flight MU889 left Beijing Daxing International Airport at 3:43 p.m. local time and landed in Bali at 10:55 p.m. WITA. The Airbus A330 carried 287 passengers. Return flight MU890 departed Bali at 12:48 a.m. on July 12 with the same number of passengers.
China Eastern operates three weekly round trips. MU889 leaves Beijing on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and MU890 departs Bali shortly after midnight on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The scheduled journey takes eight hours to Bali and seven hours and 10 minutes to Beijing. AeroRoutes lists the route as an Airbus A330-300 service.
“We are very enthusiastic about the opening of a new route directly connecting China’s capital with Bali. We are optimistic that the new route will further strengthen air connectivity with China and improve Bali’s competitiveness as a leading global tourism destination,” airport General Manager Nugroho Jati said.
Chinese passport holders were the second-largest group of international visitors arriving in Bali during the first half of 2026, behind Australians. The airport recorded about 297,000 arrivals by Chinese nationals from January through June.
Beijing is the fifth mainland Chinese city with direct flights to Bali. Guangzhou, Shanghai, Xiamen and Chengdu already have nonstop services to the island. China Eastern also flies between Shanghai and Bali, giving the airline two direct Bali routes from mainland China.
China Eastern previously served Bali from Beijing Capital Airport before ending the route in 2020. The new operation uses Beijing Daxing, restoring a nonstop connection between the Chinese capital and Bali.
The Beijing Daxing service raised Bali airport’s international network to 42 direct routes served by 43 domestic and foreign airlines. Bali tourism officials, representatives of the Chinese consulate-general in Denpasar and InJourney Airports attended the inaugural departure to Beijing.
