China Press has issued a public apology to Malaysian influencer Kinki Ryusaki, her associate Kelvin Ong Ong, and their daughter over a series of reports published in September 2024 concerning an alleged child abuse controversy.
In a statement dated June 20, 2026, the newspaper acknowledged that 10 reports published consecutively on its website and Facebook page on September 6, 2024, contained inaccurate information.
According to China Press, the reports were related to the widely discussed controversy involving a female influencer and allegations of abuse against a girl.
The newspaper stated that the contents of the reports were untrue and had caused reputational harm to Kinki Ryusaki and Kelvin Ong Ong.
As a result, China Press announced that it would fully retract all of the related reports.
The newspaper also extended what it described as a sincere apology to Ryusaki, Ong and their daughter for the harm caused by the publications.
The apology was issued publicly under the name of China Press on June 20, 2026, nearly two years after the original reports were published.
The controversy had previously attracted significant attention online, with reports and discussions surrounding the alleged treatment of a girl generating widespread interest among social media users.
However, China Press has now clarified that the 10 reports it published in September 2024 contained inaccurate information.
By formally retracting the reports, the newspaper has acknowledged that the information published at the time should not have been presented as reported.
The statement also specifically named the individuals affected by the reports, rather than issuing only a general correction.
For Ryusaki and Ong, the apology comes after nearly two years of the reports remaining publicly associated with their names.
