
KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian students can now apply for the Chinese government’s fully funded “Silk Road” Scholarship Programme for the 2026 intake.
The programme is offered by Kibing Group in collaboration with Changsha University of Science and Technology (CSUST) and supported by Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), as reported by Malay Mail.
The scholarship will sponsor five undergraduate students and between five and 10 master’s students.
Fields of study are focused on new energy and engineering-related disciplines.
The initiative aims to nurture professional talent and future industry leaders in sectors including green energy, artificial intelligence, digital economy, finance, disaster risk reduction and teacher education.
Kibing Group will also provide internship placements and employment opportunities for successful candidates after graduation.
The undergraduate programme in New Energy Science and Engineering will be conducted in Mandarin.
Meanwhile, the master’s programme in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics will be available in either Mandarin or English.
The scholarship package includes full tuition fees, accommodation, living allowance and medical insurance coverage.
Applicants are required to meet specific language proficiency requirements.
Undergraduate applicants must possess at least HSK Level 3 certification.
Master’s applicants are required to have HSK Level 4 certification alongside a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.
Students who do not yet hold the required Mandarin qualifications may enrol in language courses after admission.
Applications for the scholarship programme are open from May 7 until May 22.
Successful candidates are expected to be announced on May 31.
Interested applicants must first complete pre-registration with Kibing Group before submitting the required documents through CSUST’s international application platform.
