
BEAUFORT: The Chinese community is encouraged to help the State Government strengthen the State’s economy especially to deal with the present uncertain economic situation.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Isnin Aliasnih said this while ushering in the Chinese New Year in the Bagandang square on Saturday.
The cooperation of all parties including the Chinese community was important because they have played an important role in advancing various economic sectors.
“I am optimistic under the leadership of Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor various agendas will be implemented including boosting the economy of the state for the people’s well-being,” he said
A high level of respect also needed to be fostered in the community consisting of various ethnic groups in this country so that harmony continued.
“In Sabah we have more than 32 different ethnic groups so it is important that we respect each other in order to guarantee unity and stability.
“We need to respect all races and religions to ensure peace and unity,” he said.
More than 1,600 people attended the celebration where various dragon and lion dance performances were held.
It was attended by Lumadan Assemblyman Ruslan Muharam and Sipitang Member of Parliament Datuk Matbali Musah.
