Chinese, Koreans top tourism arrivals

Kota Kinabalu: State Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Christina Liew said South Koreans were the single biggest visitors to Sabah in 2023 and exceeded those from China.

However, Chinese visitors outnumbered South Koreans last year. Published statistics show South Korean arrivals totalled 198,703 while that from China totalled 78,690 in 2023.

Interviewed In a post Chinese New Year luncheon which she hosted for journalists, Liew paid tribute to leading South Korean low cost carrier Jeju Air’s significant contribution to the flow of South Korean inbounds to Sabah, since it mounted direct flights to Kota Kinabalu International Airport in July 2016.
