A man in China, who often suffers from problems with blood in his urine, was shocked to find out that he was actually menstruating.
Based on a report by WION, 33-year-old Chen Li from the province of Sichuan also frequently had to endure pain in the abdomen that lasted for several hours.
He had initially visited a doctor who told him he had appendicitis, but after taking medicine for the issue, the symptoms still persisted.
Later on, another doctor confirmed that he, in fact, did not have any problems related to the urinary system but is instead experiencing a menstrual cycle like a woman.
Further medical examinations also found that he has female reproductive organs, including ovaries and a uterus, and that the male sex hormone, androgen, in his body is below the normal level for men. Whereas, the female sex hormones are comparable to those found in the body of a healthy adult woman.
It was then confirmed that he possessed both male and female reproductive organs.
He has since asked to undergo surgery to remove the female reproductive organs from his body.
