Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) urged the Chinese community to give their full support to the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Its Supreme Council member Goon Thien Shang said this is to make sure their interests continue to be protected as now the Chinese did not have a strong voice in the government.

Goon who is also PBS’ Luyang division chief said PBS is a Sabah-based and a real multi-racial party that had been defending Sabah’s rights and interests as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“One vote can change the future of Sabah. I hope the Chinese community will come out in full force and vote wisely for a party that can truly safeguard their future and also of Sabah,” said Goon who is also Sabah deputy chief minister special affairs officer in a statement.

Goon said the GRS and Barisan Nasional (BN)-led state government under Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has praised the contributions of the Chinese community for playing an important role in the Sabah’s economic development over the years.

“The state government has never neglected the Chinese community in terms of allocation of funds and drawing up of policies,” he said.

He said the GRS-BN led state government has vowed to protect the interests of Sabah and its diverse ethnicities.

“Hopefully the Chinese voters will help us (GRS) recapture all the Chinese dominant seats that we lost to PKR and DAP so that Sabah would have a better future,” said Goon.
