CHINESE Premier Li Qiang (pic) arrived in Malaysia on Sunday to attend the 20th East Asia Summit, coinciding with the 47th ASEAN Summit and related meetings at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
His special aircraft touched down at the KLIA Bunga Raya Complex at 4.17 pm, where he was welcomed by Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
Li then inspected a guard of honour comprising 28 officers and members of the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment.
According to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he is scheduled to participate in the East Asia Summit, the 28th ASEAN Plus Three Summit, and the fifth Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Leaders’ Meeting.
This marks Li’s second visit to Malaysia in 2025, following his attendance at the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit from 26 to 28 May, also at the invitation of the Malaysian Prime Minister in his capacity as ASEAN Chair.
Earlier in the afternoon, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung arrived at 2.45 pm and was greeted by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
This is Lee’s first visit to Southeast Asia since assuming office in June. He is expected to engage in discussions on South Korea’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN members and attend the ASEAN Plus Three Summit with China and Japan.
Malaysia, serving as ASEAN Chair for 2025, is hosting leaders from the bloc alongside 30 world leaders, including representatives from the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, to bolster regional ties and tackle global and regional challenges of mutual concern. - October 26, 2025
