CHINESE Premier Li Qiang has arrived in Malaysia to attend the 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits, which are taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from Oct 26 to Oct 28.
The special aircraft carrying Li and his delegation landed at the Bunga Raya Complex of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 4.17pm, reported Bernama.
He was welcomed by Transport Minister Anthony Loke. Li inspected a guard of honour comprising 28 officers and personnel from the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment.
Li is undertaking his second visit to Malaysia this year at the invitation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He will take part in the 28th Asean Plus Three Summit, the 20th East Asia Summit, and the fifth Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Leaders' Meeting, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry's official website.
The Chinese Premier was previously in Kuala Lumpur for the Asean-China-GCC Summit from May 26 to 28, also at the invitation of Anwar, who is also Asean Chair for 2025. Li made a two-day visit to Singapore on Oct 25 and 26 before coming to Malaysia.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung also arrived earlier at 2.45pm and was welcomed by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Lee's two-day visit to Kuala Lumpur marks his first trip to Southeast Asia since taking office in June.
He plans to discuss ways to advance South Korea's Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the 10-member bloc and to participate in the Asean Plus Three Summit involving South Korea, Japan, and China.
Malaysia, as Asean Chair 2025, is currently hosting over 30 world leaders, including those from the Asean region, the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, to deepen engagement and cooperation while addressing regional and global issues of mutual concern. – October 26, 2025
