A Chinese woman was detained after attempting to force her way through the international departure gate at KLIA Terminal 1 without a valid ticket

SEPANG: A woman from China was detained after behaving aggressively while attempting to pass through the international departure gate at Terminal 1 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) yesterday.

KLIA Police Chief ACP M. Ravi said in the 1.35 pm incident at International Departure Gate C, the suspect was found passing through the security inspection autogate without a valid ticket and acted aggressively when approached by security personnel for inspection.

“Acting on information received, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) KLIA auxiliary police detained the woman at 1.45 pm on the same day,” he said in a statement today.

Ravi said initial investigations found that the woman had entered the country on April 30 for a holiday with a friend but did not have enough money to purchase a ticket to return to her home country.

He said she was brought before the Sepang Court today and remanded for one day to facilitate further investigations under Section 7 of the Protected Areas and Protected Places Act 1959, which provides for a fine of up to RM1,000 or imprisonment of up to two years, or both, upon conviction.
