Ching Byn and Tshen Yeaw bag International 470 Open title

Kota Kinabalu: Chia Ching Byn with crew member Chia Tshen Yeaw captured the International 470 Open (series race) title at the 28th Merdeka Day Open Regatta 2023 organised by Kinabalu Yacht Club held in Tanjung Aru over the weekend.

It was also her second title of the year following the earlier win at the 22nd City Day Open Regatta held in February.

In second place were Muhd Zafir Zailan/Nur Zafrina Syuhada followed by ZailanDaniel Iqbal Samsuri/Aiman Zulfefli in third place.

In the International 420 class, Mohd Shahieran Raiman and Syazwi Thaqif took the top spot followed by Chen Fang Yu/Chou Yu Chen and Syahzaroul Aiman Rozaiman/Muhd Amirul Aqmal Aslan.

Read more The ILCA 7 open title went to Muhd Danish Danial Mohd Fadzil with Eric Owen Tan Chang Fook in second place and Cody Long Tse Nan in third.

In the ILCA 6 open category, Ahmad Daniel Haikal Ahmad Shahrul came first and the second and third place went to Amzar Syawal Mohd Noor Azman and Shahrul Izhan Gani respectively.

Mohd Syahieradham Raiman was the winner in the ILCA 4 boys category followed by Laurenz Leonardo Daim and Farish Hanif Zamri, while the top three winners in the girls category went to Ziti Irdina Zainal, Ainur Mardhiah Mohd Shailannie and Nur Aqilah Raifana Aslan.

In the Optimist events, the overall title was won by Nur Hafizanah Zailan. Second place went to Ahmad Tsauban Ramli and third to Muhd Hilfi Nafael Mohd Hasrizan.

The Division A title was won by Nur Hafizanah Zailan with Muhd Hilfi Nafael Mohd Hasrizan and Ahmad Tsauban Ramli in second and third places.

The top three winners in Division B and C categories were Muhd Rayyan Mohd Yusof, Aqil Rayyan Ramadhan Mohd Hashim and Ziqri Luoqman Zainal; and Muhd Abqaari Irham Adam, Mia Azrania Mohd Azrald and Khairul Iman Mohd Afendy respectively.

The boys category was won by Ahmad Tsauban Ramli ahead of Muhd Hilfi Nafael Mohd Hasrizan, Muhd Aiman Aqeel Mohd Firdaus while Nur Hafizanah Zailan took the girls title followed by Kee Aleana Adbullah and River Ng.

The top three places in the Novice event went to Ng Ye, Muhd Afham Amsyar Aslan and Ng Li Yan.

In the Windsurf Rs One class, Mohd Azmi Mohd Kahmis came top with Muhd Yusuf Abdullah in second and Muhd Danial Mohd Razali in third.

The Techno 293 class winners were Lucqmann Racheed Haron Muzaffar, Putri Najwa Syakirah Ahmad Shaharul and Tan Yi.

Meanwhile in the SUP short race event, Chia Ching Lian, Ulyana Nikitina and Aguo Carraz were the top three girls winners in the short board category while the boys category went to Tang Shang Wey Keris, Chou Sung Lu and Lo Vui Lin.

In longboard, Amabel Seow Min Hui came first in the girls category with second and third place going to Sylvia Shim and Gaby Tan Shir Ping.

The top three winners in the boys’ category were Nick Boura, Yoann Martin and Pradi Changappa.

Only the boys short board category in the long race event was staged and the three winners were Jarrow Danie Marcus, Chou Sung Lu and Sandeep Singh Gill.

Amabel Seow Min Hui, Sylvia Shim and Gaby Tan Shir Ping also finished in the top three positions in the long race’s long board category, while the top two boys were Nick Boura and Yoann Martin.

The closing ceremony was officiated by Sabah Sports Council director Asneh Mohd Noor.
