FORMER world badminton icon Datuk Lee Chong Wei paid tribute to Hendrawan, whose contract will not be extended after 15 years as the national men’s singles coach.
Chong took to social media to share a heartfelt farewell message to one of the sport's most respected figures.
"Coach Hendrawan, you have been more than just a mentor; you have been like a brother to me in badminton.
"Your patience, wisdom, and passion for the game are unmatched, and there's no question that you have played a major role in my success," he said.
Chong Wei said Hendrawan had contributed immensely to Malaysian badminton, and that his impact would last a lifetime.
In the post, he also conveyed his best wishes to Hendrawan for his next chapter.
"This is a sincere tribute to you for your contribution to me, my family, Malaysian badminton and the whole badminton arena.
"Once a coach, always a coach, no matter where life leads you. Thank you, coach Pak Hendrawan!" he said. - October 2, 2024
