Dal Khalsa has called upon all Sikh Members of the Punjab Legislative Assembly to honour the directive issued by the Jathedar of the Akal Takht, and appear before the Takht on June 29 to explain their role in the “hurried passage of the Amendments” to the Jagat Jot Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act, 2026.

Addressing a press conference here recently, Dal Khalsa political affairs secretary Kanwarpal Singh asked all Sikh legislators to participate in the proceedings at the Takht with humility and sincerity.

He said this was not merely a political issue but a matter of religious sentiments, dignity and the collective conscience of the Sikh Panth.

“Notwithstanding your party affiliations, 72 hours are left and you have to decide and choose religion over politics, Panth over party,” the Dal Khalsa leader said. He urged the legislators not to allow party loyalties or political considerations to influence “their duty towards religion and religious traditions”.

“When the honour of the Guru Granth Sahib and the authority of the Akal Takht are involved, political affiliations must take a back seat,” he added.
