PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged those casting their ballots in the polls across six states and in the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election tomorrow, to vote wisely.
In a video posted on Facebook, he said he believed that those voting for the first time, especially the youth, would make a smart choice to maintain the country’s stability.
“I hope Malaysians will opt for a stable future, a comprehensive economy and a clear direction as well as ensure issues such as wages are not taken for granted and are improved,” he said, likely referring to the government’s proposed progressive wage policy.
Anwar, who is also the Pakatan Harapan chairman, also expressed hope that the electoral process will run smoothly.

All six states decided against having the state polls together with the 15th general election (GE15) last November in view of the year-end floods situation.
Meanwhile, the Kuala Terengganu by-election was called for after an election court nullified the victory by PAS’s Ahmad Amzad Hashim in the parliamentary seat following allegations of vote-buying. The losing candidate from Barisan Nasional had earlier filed an election petition against the result.
Terengganu PAS decided not to appeal the ruling by the election court.
