GEORGE TOWN – Penang caretaker chief minister Chow Kon Yeow has won Padang Kota in Penang for the fourth consecutive term, while his Selangor counterpart Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has claimed victory in Sg Tua as results begin to stream in for the state elections.
In a tweet, Amirudin – who heads the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional alliance in Selangor – has expressed confidence that he would retain Sg Tua with 11 polling boxes yet to be fully counted.

Based on results released by the Election Commission at 8.43pm, Chow, who heads PH in Penang, beat Perikatan Nasional’s H’ng Khoon Leng by a majority of 7,116 votes in a straight fight, reported Bernama.
Chow obtained 8,261 votes while his challenger, H’ng, had 1,145 votes.
Chow, who is also Batu Kawan MP, first won Padang Kota in the 2008 general election.
