PAITAN: A two-storey non-permanent church hostel in Kampung Tulid here was partially destroyed in a fire early Sunday, said the Fire and Rescue Department.
The department said it received a call at 3.26am and a team from the Beluran station travelled 194km to the scene, arriving at 7.07am before bringing the situation under control at 8.01am and ending operations at 8.30am.
The fire, which affected about 50 per cent of the building, was extinguished using an open water source, with overhaul works carried out to eliminate remaining embers and ensure safety, while no casualties were reported, and communication access at the location was limited.
