Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) chairperson Ir Dr Tom Ngui won the 2024 Industry Excellence Award at the Prestige Lecture and Awards Dinner in Kuala Lumpur for rebuilding the dilapidated St David’s church in Telupid.
Ngui won the “Sustainable Built Environment” category award from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), United Kingdom.
AdvertisementHis effort not only focused on the structural modification of the old church but also the first representation from Sabah and placing the State in the national spotlight for sustainable engineering excellence.
“The project was carried out through close collaboration with the architect to envision a design that draws as much heritage value as possible from the old church.
