
A FIRE broke out at a cinema kitchen in a shopping mall here this morning, prompting a temporary halt in operations. The incident, which occurred at 10.08am, was confirmed by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre.
According to the department, the fire involved the cinema’s kitchen area on the third floor, measuring approximately 20 by 30 square feet. “The fire affected around 30 per cent of the kitchen area and was extinguished before firefighters arrived,” it said in a statement.
Selangor Fire and Rescue assistant director of operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, confirmed the incident and added that no injuries were reported.
The cinema’s management later issued a statement via Facebook, announcing that operations were temporarily halted but resumed at 2.28pm the same day.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank everyone for their cooperation,” the statement read.
Affected customers are advised to seek ticket refunds. For online purchases, refunds will be processed within 14 working days. Alternatively, refunds can be obtained at the cinema’s ticket counter within two weeks. - September 20, 2025
