From Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse to a new Lord of the Rings film and an exclusive trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, here are all the major announcements from Cinemacon 2026.

This week, the biggest studios in Hollywood gave their presentations at Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, from 13 to 16 April 2026. Stars like Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya came out to promote their upcoming projects. Some of the most anticipated announcements included Avengers: Doomsday,  Dune: Part ThreeThe Odyssey, and Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day. Franchise blockbusters aside, the first details have been announced for future award-contending films like Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning, Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Digger, and Sean Baker‘s next project, Ti Amo.

In this roundup, we will cover the biggest new films announced from Sony, Warner Bros., Universal, Paramount, and Disney. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

First-look images from the final film in the Miles Morales trilogy, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, were revealed. Picking up right after where we last left off in a new universe, Miles is hunted by the Spider Society and an alternate version of himself; he must race against time to protect his family. The film features the voices of Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, and Jake Johnson, among many others, and swings into theatres on 18 June 2027.

The Social Reckoning

Writer-director Aaron Sorkin returns to Facebook with a pseudo-sequel to The Social Network with The Social Reckoning. The film is based on the book The Facebook Files, which covers the infamous 2021 Facebook leak. A CinemaCon-exclusive trailer features Anora star Mikey Madison as whistleblower Frances Haugen and Jeremy Allen as journalist Jeff Horwitz working together to expose a leak that changed the platform forever. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, played by Jeremy Strong, was shown at the end of the trailer addressing the US Congress. The Social Reckoning hits theatres on 9 October 2026.

Jumanji: Open World

The Jumanji films return with their fifth and final instalment, and this time the game goes into the real world. Directed by Jake Kasdan, who helmed the previous two instalments, Open World will bring back Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, and Awkwafina. The film is slated for release on Christmas day 2026.

Dune: Part Three

The stars of Dune: Part Three, Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, and director Dennis Villenueve went on stage to present new details about the upcoming blockbuster. The new footage shown was a seven-minute opening scene that showcases a Fremen attack on a hostile planet. Described as a ‘fast-paced thriller’ by Villenueve, the last instalment of the Dune trilogy will be a treat for fans of the series. The story will take place 17 years after the second instalment, with Paul Atreides, now Emperor of the galaxy, finding out about a plot to overthrow him and his vision of the future. The epic sci-fi film will be released on 18 December 2026.

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum

Middle-earth returns to the big screen with a story set between the events of The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring. Directed by Andy Serkis, the film follows Gandalf and Aragorn as they desperately search for Gollum to uncover the truth about the One Ring before Sauron’s forces find him. The cast sees the return of Ian McKellen as Gandalf and Andy Serkis as Gollum, with Jamie Dornan taking over the role of Strider (Aragorn). The film arrives on 17 December 2027.

Digger

In one of the most surprising reveals, Tom Cruise was almost unrecognisable in the trailer for Digger, a ‘catastrophic comedy’ directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu. Cruise stars as Digger Rockwell, an oil driller who starts a massive ecological crisis that he is tasked to fix. Also starring John Goodman, Riz Ahmed, and Jesse Plemons, the film is expected to hit cinemas on 2 October 2026.

Man of Tomorrow

More information about James Gunn’s sequel to Superman was revealed. The story will see Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) forced into an uneasy alliance to stop the planetary threat of Brainiac. Gunn teased Luthor’s iconic purple-and-green power suit and confirmed Adria Arjona will join the cast in a mystery role. The Man of Steel will return to cinemas on 9 July 2027.

Sean Baker’s next film Ti Amo

Director Sean Baker of Anora and Sandiwara, announced his next project under Warner Bros.’ new speciality label, Clockwork. Described as a ‘sweeping and visceral sex comedy’, the rest of the film’s details remain shrouded in mystery, except for its release, which is aimed for 2027.

Untitled Game of Thrones Aegon film

Warner Bros. confirmed they are bringing Westeros to the silver screen with a feature film centred on Aegon’s Conquest. The story will detail how Aegon I Targaryen and his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, used their dragons to unify six of the Seven Kingdoms. While casting remains unknown, the film is set to be released in 2028.

Universal

The opening of The Odyssey is revealed

Director Christopher Nolan took to the CinemaCon 2026 stage to present the opening scene of his upcoming historical fantasy The Odyssey. The opening scene features an extended look at the Trojan Horse sequence with Matt Damon’s Odysseus leading the charge. A few quick shots also show Anne Hathaway as Lady Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, and Charlize Theron as Calypso. The epic voyage will be coming to cinemas on 17 July 2026.

Disclosure Day

Steven Spielberg returns to the sci-fi genre with a grounded look at the day humanity finally learns the truth about extraterrestrial life. Spielberg unveiled exclusive footage of the special effects and cinematography. Starring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor, the film is a tense race against time to reveal a decades-long secret. Mark your calendars for 15 May 2026.

Werwulf

A new folk-horror film directed by Robert Eggers of Nosferatu and The NorthmanWerwulf, will be a reimagining of the classic tale. The early footage reveals star Aaron Taylor-Johnson transforming into a werewolf, though his full form isn’t revealed. Eggers returns to collaborate with Lily Rose Depp and Willem Dafoe in another gothic horror tale. The film is expected to come to cinemas on Christmas Day 2026.

Focker-In-Law

The “Little Fockers” are all grown up in this legacy sequel. Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) finds himself in the shoes of his father-in-law, Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro), as he tries to vet his son’s new fiancée, played by Ariana Grande. The comedy promises a return to the ‘circle of trust’ that made the original a hit. It is slated for a Thanksgiving release on 25 November 2026.

Paramount

Top Gun 3

Following the historic success of Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise is officially returning to the cockpit. While plot details are being kept under wraps, the film will see Pete Mitchell mentoring a new generation of pilots, including the return of Miles Teller and Glen Powell, facing a new era of automated warfare. Paramount confirmed the film is in active development for a 2027 release.

A first look at Sonic the Hedgehog 4

The first look at the fourth instalment introduced a fan-favourite rival: Metal Sonic. After the events of the third film, Sonic (Ben Schwartz) and Shadow (Keanu Reeves) must put aside their differences to stop Dr Robotnik’s most dangerous creation. The teaser showed a short recap of the series’ past villain, Knuckles and Shadow, with an ominous voiceover warning of an impending danger. Sonic returns to theatres on 17 March 2026.

The Call of Duty Teaser

Paramount gave fans a pulse-pounding teaser for the long-awaited Call of Duty adaptation. Directed by Peter Berg and written by Taylor Sheridan, the film aims to deliver a gritty, hyper-realistic depiction of Task Force 141. The teaser featured iconic glimpses of Captain Price and Ghost in a rain-slicked London environment. The mission is set to begin on 30 June 2028.

Street Fighter’s first official trailer drops

The first official trailer for the Street Fighter reboot was revealed with vibrant, fight-choreography-heavy visuals. Featuring an ensemble cast with Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Andrew Koji as Ryu, rapper 50-Cent as Balrog, and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. With comedic moments and callbacks to the original video game, fans and casual moviegoers can expect this film to pack a punch when it arrives in theatres on 16 October 2026

Brad Pitt stars in Heart of the Beast

Paramount unveiled some footage of director David Ayer’s Heart of the Beast starring Brad Pitt. Pitt is an ex-Special Forces soldier who crashes his plane in the wilderness alongside his dog. After surviving the crash, the two must navigate the dangerous wild together or die trying. The film’s release date remains unknown.

Johnny Depp transforms into Scrooge in Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol 

Johnny Depp and director Ti West took to the stage to present their upcoming collaboration, Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol. The footage shows an unrecognisable Depp as the iconic Christmas character as he is visited by the ghost of Jacob Marley (played by Ian McKellen) before he is sucked away into his own bed. This spooky Christmas tale is expected to be released 13 November 2026.

Avengers: Doomsday drops an exclusive trailer

Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans took the stage and revealed the first official trailer of Avengers: Doomsday. The footage showed the multiverse collapsing as the new Avengers lineup led by Captain America (Anthony Mackie) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth), alongside the X-Men and the Wakandans, come face-to-face with Dr Victor Von Doom (Downey). The MCU changes forever on 18 December 2026.

Toy Story 5

Pixar’s latest instalment finds Woody and Buzz reunited once again, but this time they face a modern threat: the ‘LilyPad’ tablet. The story will explore how toys struggle to stay relevant in a world dominated by electronics and social media. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen were on hand to confirm their return for this new adventure, releasing on 19 June 2026.

Moana (Live Action)

Dwayne Johnson took the stage to present the live-action Moana. He told a touching story about his Maui roots with his grandfather and introduced newcomer Catherine Laga‘aia as the titular heroine. The presentation highlighted the film’s commitment to cultural authenticity and featured a snippet of a new song written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The live-action film will be released on 10 July 2026

Ice Age: Boiling Point

The herd is back and facing their biggest challenge yet: the end of the frost. As the world warms up, Manny, Sid, and Diego must lead a massive migration to find the last remaining tundra. Ray Romano and John Leguizamo return to voice the iconic duo in this 20th Century Studios production, slated for June 2027.

The Dog Stars

Based on Peter Heller’s bestseller, this post-apocalyptic thriller stars Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin. Directed by Ridley Scott, the film follows a pilot living in a secluded hangar who follows a mysterious radio transmission into the unknown. It’s a gritty, emotional survival story expected to hit theatres on 28 August 2026.

Wild Horse Nine

Sam Rockwell and John Malkovich team up in a dark buddy comedy about two dysfunctional CIA Agents who travel to Chile in the 1970s for a covert mission. But as Malkovich’s Lee gets infatuated with two rebellious female students, the mission goes south quickly, and the duo’s bond is tested. Written and directed by Martin McDonough, this black comedy will see him return to the gritty crime films he does best. Wild Horse Nine is set for a release on 6 November 2026.
