Kota Kinabalu: Cement Industries (Sabah) Sdn Bhd (CIS) paid RM500,000 in business tithe for 2025 to Sabah Tithe Centre to assist asnaf groups and orphans.

The tithe contribution was presented by CIS Chairman Datuk Japlin Akim to Muis Tithe and Fitrah chief assistant secretary Iwansuzairie Hari, representing Sabah Tithe Centre, during a ceremony here on Saturday night.

Japlin said as a State Government-owned company, CIS plays a role not only in supporting Sabah’s economic development but also in channelling part of its profits to those in need through zakat payments.

He said the contribution was hoped to help ease the burden of the poor and asnaf, particularly in preparing for the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.

Also present were CIS General Manager Sumardi Mohd Yusof, Muis Deputy President Datuk Malai Ali Malai Ahmad and CIS management staff, while the company also hosted a break-of-fast with 60 orphans and asnaf from several welfare institutions that each received RM2,000 in contributions.
