Citizens will no longer need passports to travel between Bosnia-Türkiye

SARAJEVO – Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will soon be able to enter Türkiye with an ID card instead of a passport, and vice versa, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday in Sarajevo.

“We discussed further steps towards improving our relations,” Erdogan told a joint press conference after his official meeting with the chairmen and the two members of the tripartite Presidency of BiH, Xinhua quoted the state-owned news agency Fena.

Shortly before heading to Sarajevo, the capital of BiH, Erdogan said Türkiye pursues a policy that supports stability, and development of the Balkans and its Euro-Atlantic integration process.

“BiH and Türkiye have exceptionally friendly and brotherly relations,” said the chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Sefik Dzaferovic, at the press conference.

Dzaferovic added that the trade exchange which is now at about US$900 million (approximately RM4 billion) must increase to one US$1 billion by the end of the year.

Erdogan embarked on his three-day Balkan tour to strengthen relations with the region. After BiH, Erdogan is scheduled to visit Serbia and Croatia. – Bernama, September 7, 2022
