It’ll be a December to remember for Malaysian civil servants who will see a 13% increment in their salaries. The Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil, said some are expected to see an increment as high as 42.7%!

Civil servants in the implementing group are expected to see the increase through the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA).

“Preliminary overview of the salary increase shows that the 692,828 civil servants will be notified starting next week.”

In a recent press conference, Fahmi explained that guidelines for the salary increase will be distributed sometime next week. Generally, civil servants can expect to see a raise of 15% to 42.7% in their salaries.

“This increase is for the highest implementing group, while for groups such as KSU (Chief Secretary), director-general, the increase is more modest.”

Fahmi also said this is part of the Madani government’s efforts to ensure that civil servants receive a salary increase. He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would announce its details at the 19th Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (MAPPA) event on August 16.

Fahmi added that the government considered several aspects involving the financial implications of implementing the SSPA, which were also raised in the Cabinet meeting.

The details, especially the amount that needs to be allocated, will be explored in the forthcoming tabling of Budget 2025 on October 18.

What do you think of this major increase in civil servants after so many years?
