
TAWAU: A civil servant and a contractor was each fined RM10,000 by the Special Corruption Sessions Court, Wednesday, on two counts of submitting false documents related to claims for payment of dormitory equipment worth RM1,300.
Rozaiman Basari, 45, education service officer and Mohd Shakuddin Samsudin, 34, pleaded guilty before Judge Jason Juga to committing the offence at a school in Semporna on Aug 8, 2018.
On the first charge, Rozaiman was charged with fraudulently using a fake document as genuine, namely the business licence of Syarikat Mad Sahirun Kontraktor, as supporting document to the contractor’s invoice for the payment amounting to RM1, 300.
On the second count, Rozaiman was accused of fraudulently using a fake document as genuine, which was the Maybank Islamic Current Account Statement in the name of the company, Mad Sahirun Kontraktor, dated March, 31, 2018.

Rozaiman and Shakuddin were fined RM5,000 or three months jail on each charge. They paid the fines.
Rozaiman was charged under Section 471 of the Penal Code which can be punished under Section 465 of the same Code which provides for a prison sentence of up to two years or a fine or both, if convicted.
Mohd Shakuddin was charged under Section 109 of the Penal Code read with Section 471 of the Penal Code and can be punished under Section 465 of the same code which provides for a prison sentence of up to two years or a fine or both, if convicted.
