Kota Kinabalu: Civil servants are advised to consistently practise a healthy lifestyle in order to provide the best service to the public.
Deputy Director-General of Public Service (Development), Datuk Dr Mohd Bakhari Ismail said that health maintenance among civil servants is crucial to enhance productivity levels and work quality.
“Some civil servants work regular hours from 8am to 5pm or 9am to 6pm, while others work in shifts,” he said.

“Try to achieve 10,000 steps a day or, if you are sitting in the office, attempt to stretch after every two hours to promote physical health,” he said.
Mohd Bakhari said civil servants with healthy minds and bodies are able to perform their duties more effectively, thereby enhancing organisational productivity.
He said this to the media after the opening ceremony of the 20th Public Service Leadership Mandate Run (Mappa XX) at the Likas Sports Complex here.
Meanwhile, over 2,500 individuals, comprising civil servants and members of the public, took part in the run officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
He added that the programme was organised to promote the Madani values of well-being among the people, especially civil servants, encouraging them to have healthy bodies and minds.
He also expressed hope that more people would participate in such health programmes to foster a culture of healthy living within the community.
Also present were State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew and the Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Seri Rosli Isa.
