Civil Surgeon Kapurthala, Dr Sanjeev Bhagat, conducted an inspection visit to Community Health Centre (CHC) Begowal and Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) Bholath, reviewing healthcare services and holding meetings with doctors and paramedical staff to assess ongoing programmes and preparedness.
During the visit, a comprehensive review of the performance of both health institutions was undertaken, along with discussions on strengthening service delivery and improving future healthcare strategies.
Dr Bhagat emphasised that medical and paramedical teams must remain fully prepared to handle any emergency situation, while also directing officials to improve record-keeping systems for better efficiency and accountability. He reiterated that the benefits of government health schemes must reach every section of society and stressed strict adherence to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards within healthcare institutions.
The meeting included detailed discussions on various national and state health programmes, including Aam Aadmi Clinics, maternal health services, the TB control programme, Tele-MANAS and the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme. Staff members were instructed to regularly review the progress of these programmes at their respective levels and remain updated with guidelines issued by the state headquarters.
In a significant development, Dr Bhagat announced the commencement of 24×7 emergency healthcare services at CHC Begowal, aimed at enhancing access to immediate medical care for the local population. During his visit to SDH Bholath, he also inspected key facilities including the dialysis centre, emergency ward, general ward, pharmacy and laboratory to evaluate their functioning.
Responding to a demand raised by local residents for the appointment of a gynaecologist at Civil Hospital Bholath, Dr Bhagat took up the matter directly with Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh through a telephonic conversation, apprising him of the requirement.
