PETALING JAYA: Police have denied claims that the government has exploited them as a tool against its political rivals by asking them to investigate cases involving race, religion and royalty (3R).

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said no politicians have been charged in court so far in relation to these 3R issues.

“To claim that the police are controlled by politicians is absurd,” he said at the closing ceremony of the fourth national forensics science symposium for law enforcement at Maktab PDRM earlier today.

Razarudin said the prohibition on 3R hate speech applied to everyone, regardless of their political allegiance.

Another investigation paper on PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for sedition was sent to the AGC this morning.

The probe against Hadi pertains to his comments on the authority of the Pardons Board.
