
THE State Government and Federal Government never ever recognised the claims of so-called heirs of the now defunct Sulu Sultanate.
Referring to the issue raised by Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (Senallang), Asst Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir said the State in collaboration with Federal through the Law and Institutional Reforms Division, the Prime Minister’s Department always hold discussions and follow-up actions.
“A special committee led by Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said whose members also involve representatives of the Sabah State Government, namely the Sabah Attorney General, will continue to take active steps to further strengthen national sovereignty, especially when it comes to Sabah.
“On Nov. 6, 2023, it was reported that the French Court revoked the order for the statutory mortgage made against the Malaysian diplomatic building in Paris by the claimants.
“It should be stated here that the State Government and the Federal Government never recognised the claimants.
“Therefore, the Federal Government has held several symposiums and continued dialogue with stakeholders both inside and outside the country to provide information so that the international media does not misinterpret it.
At the same time, the Federal Government has also proposed the enactment of an “Immunity Act” that protects national sovereignty from any foreign claims,” he said.
