Greenpeace activists abseiled down from the roof of a luxury hotel in London to unfurl a banner reading “Make big oil pay” while the heads of major oil and gas companies met inside the building on Tuesday, 17 October.

Maja Darlington, a campaigner from the group, said: “Oil bosses are toasting each other in a luxury hotel and plotting how to make even larger profits, while millions struggle to rebuild after a summer of extreme weather.”

Greta Thunberg, who joined the protest, was detained by police.

Speakers at today’s conference included the UK energy security and net zero minister Graham Stuart.
