The CT Group, in collaboration with the Punjab Press Club, unveiled the restored the historic Clock Tower at Company Bagh, reviving one of Jalandhar’s iconic landmarks after 34 years.

The Clock Tower, whose foundation was laid on February 10, 1982, had long served as a trusted source of time and a prominent symbol of Jalandhar. Over the years, it became an integral part of the city’s identity. However, after ceasing operations in 1992, the structure stood silent for decades, evoking memories of a bygone era.

Recognising its historical and emotional significance, the CT Group joined hands with the Punjab Press Club to undertake the restoration of both the heritage structure and its iconic clock mechanism. The initiative was envisioned by Charanjit Singh Channi, Chancellor, CT University, who believes that preserving heritage is essential to preserving a city’s identity and cultural roots.

Speaking on the occasion, Channi said the Clock Tower is much more than a physical structure. “It is a symbol of our shared memories, traditions and history. By restoring this landmark, we are preserving an important chapter of Jalandhar’s legacy and ensuring that future generations remain connected to their roots,” he said.

Months of detailed research, planning, technical assessment and restoration work were undertaken to revive the landmark while retaining its historical authenticity. The vision was further strengthened through the support and collaboration of Jaspreet Singh Saini, president, Punjab Press Club, and Jatinderpal Singh, general manager, Punjab Press Club.

Addressing a gathering, Saini said the Clock Tower has always been a cherished symbol of Jalandhar. He noted that its restoration reflects a collective commitment towards preserving the city’s heritage and passing it on to future generations.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Prof (Dr) Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group, and Harpreet Singh, Vice-Chairman, CT Group, along with senior members of the Punjab Press Club.
