SANDAKAN: Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong Ket Kiun urged food traders at Kim Fung Market not to throw away waste from cooking activities that may enter the sewer line.
He said throwing leftover food, meat fat, cooking oil, butter, margarine, sauce, gravy, fried food, cheese, and others would cause the sewer line to be blocked.
He noted, after conducting a survey at the Kim Fung Market due to complaints from sellers, that the sewer line was blocked, causing water to overflow onto the surface of the market floor.
Calvin reported and informed the matter to the Sandakan Municipal Council, and it was resolved on Thursday. He said the cleaning of debris should be part of a long-term plan.
