Close federal–state cooperation key to national well-being, says PM

PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphasised that strong cooperation between state and federal leaders is essential to realising the people’s aspirations in a holistic and inclusive manner.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Anwar, who also chairs the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition, said this following a cordial and constructive meeting with Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.

“This meeting reflects political maturity and a clear commitment to strengthen cooperation for the sake of national stability, particularly in the context of Federal–State relations with Sabah,” he said.

“I believe political stability is a vital foundation for the success of our development agenda and for the well-being of the people.”

Anwar, who is also president of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), expressed hope that the spirit of consensus and unity demonstrated in the meeting would continue to underpin a stronger national solidarity.

“This spirit of cooperation must serve as the basis for a progressive, just and prosperous Malaysia for all,” he added. - August 19, 2025
