SANDAKAN: The Rotary Club Sandakan, through the Educare programme, presented contributions to 28 students from first year to sixth year of Chinese National Primary School in Sandakan who are less fortunate and in need.

The presentation ceremony, held during a luncheon at Kenalanmu Seafood, Batu 4, here on Sunday, also presented lion and dragon dance performances in celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year.

AdvertisementSpeaking at the event, the Rotary Club’s President, Tenny Chang, said that the programme, which has been running since 2006, helps the students and their families with their schooling and daily necessities.

“The selection of eligible recipients is carried out in collaboration with the schools, followed by visits to the homes of the students,” he said.

Read more He also said that every year, since 2006, except during the Covid-19 pandemic, 20 eligible students received the contribution, and this year, the number of recipients was increased to 28 based on current needs.

The club also expressed its gratitude to all the donors who contributed to supporting the students.
