CM refutes reports of land loss in Sebatik

LAHAD DATU: Claims that 127.3 hectares in Pulau Sebatik have been handed over to Indonesia are incorrect, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said.

He described the allegation as inaccurate and said he had personally attended discussions on the matter.

Hajiji said the bilateral talks involved top leadership, including Malaysia’s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto.

He added that Malaysia had gained benefits from the negotiations, although some details could not be disclosed to the public.

Earlier reports stated that the 127.3-hectare area had become part of Indonesia following land boundary demarcation, while a 4.9-hectare area of Indonesian territory was included within Malaysia’s borders.
