Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is committed to providing best health facilities on the new premises of Dr Radhakrishanan Government Medical College and Hospital being established at Jol Sappar in Hamirpur district, said Sunil Sharma Bittu, Political Adviser to the Chief Minister, during a visit to Khatvin village in the Dhaned area, near here, on Wednesday. He added that it was unfortunate some BJP leaders were making false claims regarding the establishment of the medical college but people know it well that it was built due to the sincere efforts of the Chief Minister in 2014 and it was sanctioned by the UPA Government led by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at an initial outlay of Rs 189 crore. He added that as the Chief Minister had said that over Rs 500 crore had been spent on the project by the state government so far.

Bittu said that the Chief Minister accorded top priority to resolving issues faced by common people. He added that the Chief Minister had taken several decisions aimed at the all-round development of rural areas and the strengthening of the local economy.

He said that the Chief Minister had fixed the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat, maize and raw turmeric produced through natural farming methods. He added that the government was procuring wheat at Rs 80 per kilogram, maize at Rs 50 per kilogram and raw turmeric at Rs 150 per kilogram. The procurement prices of cow and buffalo milk had been hiked. Furthermore, the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) had been reinstated for state government employees despite opposition from the Central Government.

Bittu also listened to the grievances of villagers and apprised them of achievements under various welfare schemes launched by the state government.
