Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a 50-bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital, to be constructed within the premises of the District Ayurvedic Hospital in Dharamsala, and inaugurated a shopping complex and entertainment centre at Charan.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the state government was committed to strengthening the holistic healthcare system by integrating modern medical services with Ayush (ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, unani, siddha, and homoeopathy) treatment methods.
He said the proposed hospital would significantly enhance healthcare infrastructure in the region, and provide people with better access to integrated healthcare services based on traditional systems of medicine.
Sukhu said the hospital would help promote Ayush-based treatment, while ensuring quality healthcare facilities for residents of Dharamsala and surrounding areas.
Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated the shopping complex and entertainment centre, constructed by Dharamsala Smart City Limited (DSCL) at a cost of Rs 7.50 crore, at Charan.
He said the facility would provide residents with shopping, entertainment and other routine services under one roof, reducing the need for people to travel long distances for such requirements.
The Chief Minister said the project would save both time and money for area residents, while improving access to essential services. He added that the new centre was expected to increase footfall in the area, creating fresh business opportunities for nearby shopkeepers, traders, and small entrepreneurs.
“The facility will contribute to local economic activity and provide direct benefits to small businesses by attracting more visitors to the area,” he said.
