A fire has broken out at the IOI Puchong mall, where one of its CNY decorations went ablaze.

In a 2-minute clip which has been circulated widely on social media, it showed the roof of a pagoda-shaped decoration up in flames as a man tries to put it out with a fire extinguisher.

Thankfully, the fire was successfully put out, leaving thick pillars of smoke shrouding the mall.

IOI Puchong’s mall management later released a statement confirming the incident on its official Facebook account.

We are saddened to inform that a fire incident occurred today at 7.10 pm. Fortunately, no one was injured or harmed in the incident and the fire was quickly contained by 7.15pm.

“The cause of the fire is still under investigation and we are cooperating fully with the relevant agencies and local authorities.

“We apologize for any inconvenience or concern this may have caused,” it wrote.

It added that all operations have resumed with no further disruption.
