Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC are out of the Malaysia Cup!
We were edged 0-1 by Perak FC in the quarter-final second leg tie in Ipoh and 3-2 on aggregate in favour of Perak FC to progress to the semi-final against JDT FC.
I am sure most of the Rhinos fans and I felt deeply disappointed with the final result on Monday night.
What really went wrong? Missed chances were apparently the culprit for the loss just like the first leg home tie that ended in a 2-2 draw.

Instead we had to carry a heavy load to Ipoh and thus paid a heavy price as we again left our scoring boots at home.
What a sad exit for Sabah FC to bow out in the quarter-final just as we did in the FA Cup competition earlier in the season.
Now Sabah FC only have four matches left to play in the Super League to try to improve their current fourth position.
The highest spot we could finish may be third place and that will also depend on the results from the remaining matches.
Kudos to Perak FC for the fine win over Sabah FC.
I never thought they were better than us. It was pure determination, commitment and focus from the players that gave them the slim victory.
Never mind that JDT are their opponents in the semi-final. Perak FC are now playing better football following some changes in the team after a terrible start to the season.
For Sabah FC, let’s hope that coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee can take note of the team’s weaknesses and rectify them quickly.
Knowing the problems is one thing but it is to do something to overcome it that is very crucial.
I believe we have a quality side but the players still don’t seem to gel well enough so far.
We have three national players in the team. We also have Saddil Ramdani who played for the Indonesian national team as well as the other foreign imports.
On paper we have a very good team with quality players supported by many local imports, but the team seems to struggle at times.
Anyway we need to put behind the disappointment and move on.
We still have the four league matches to focus on and are in the hunt in the AFC Cup competition as well.
Let’s wait and see. Hopefully the team will end the season with a positive note.
