Coach star Shelley Fabares’ cause of death revealed by family

  • Shelley Fabares’s family has confirmed the cause of her death five days after the actor passed away aged 82.
  • She was best known for her roles in The Donna Reed Show and Coach, earning two Primetime Emmy nominations for the latter.
  • Fabares’ family told People magazine that she died of pneumonia. A family statement from 23 August said: “She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.”
  • Fabares achieved a US Billboard Hot 100 hit in 1962 with “Johnny Angel” and starred alongside Elvis Presley in three 1960s movies.
  • The actor was previously diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis, and had undergone a liver transplant in 2000.
