
Tenom: A man died after being bitten twice on the head by a cobra while traveling with family members from Pangi to Kampung Rayoh on a railway motorcycle trolley, on Wednesday.
According to their guide, the family from Dalit in Sook, Keningau, were on their way to Kampung Rayoh for Christmas.
The villagers had resorted to using trolleys to make the 10km journey from Pangi to Rayoh following failure by the authorities to repair the tracks for many years.
The ordeal of the residents there had been highlighted several times.

They were modified for use on the tracks and used by residents and tourists alike.
“During the journey, the trolley somehow hit the snake which bit the victim,” the guide said when contacted.
He said the victim’s family rushed him to Beaufort Hospital but the victim died on the way.
The family killed the cobra which measured four meters and the guide described its girth to be “as big as an adult’s calf”.
The victim’s body was brought to his hometown in Dalit for burial.
