My experience as Chairman of MyAeroSatu (aerospace professionals association) for the past three years, is that I am merely the first among the equals in the Executive Committee (Exco). I am simply a person who has the same honorary rank and rights as other members in our association, but hold slightly more responsibility, respect, or informal leadership. The Latin origin of this phrase is primus inter pares. Equality in Status: Everyone in the Exco shares the same fundamental level of power, rights, or standing. Practical Leadership: I am one person who is recognized to guide or manage coordination. The Informal Influence: As the lead person earns respect through seniority of age, expertise, or duties rather than absolute command when I hold CEO post in corporate organizations. Therefore, as a project team lead, I've to function as the first among equals on collaborative team of various specialized experts.
I learned from my wife, Zarina's cousin-in-law, Nasran Nawi, a conductor of Istana Budaya Philharmonic momentum, who has a very powerful leadership model in the very art form he supports. An orchestra is a collection of performers with individual and collective responsibility. “The leader, the conductor, is the one musician on that stage that doesn't make a sound,” he says. “All the leadership and communication is done by mere gesture. So, when I say that collaboration is key, I mean at DNA level, the organization cannot exist without collaboration. I practice every day into the advancement of the orchestra.”

I realized successful relations are the key to success in business, sports, and just about any life endeavor. The principles mentioned by Nasran are easy to implement and, more importantly, they work.
