Kota Kinabalu: The BIMP-EAGA Business Council is forging a collaborative partnership with Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco).

This partnership aims to leverage Sedco’s expertise and resources to implement the Blue and Green Economy programme in Kudat and Kota Marudu, including Kota Belud and Tuaran.

Allyssa Certification Sdn Bhd, in conjunction with Solamax Sdn Bhd, is spearheading the implementation of the feasibility study to explore new energy sources and technologies as part of the initiative.

The BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BEBC Sabah) emphasised the importance of integrating socio-economic development with the generation of new energy sources to support sustainable water supply.

Read more The feasibility study, initiated last month, is expected to be completed within the next 4-5 months.

According to BENC Sabah, the study will also assess poverty alleviation strategies in the targeted districts, aligning with the advice from Sabah Special Envoy BIMP-EAGA, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.

The collaboration with Sedco is seen as a strategic move to enhance state revenue through a long-term business development plan focused on Green and Blue Economic Growth Initiatives.

By working closely with Sedco, BEBC aims to contribute to the Government of Sabah’s Poverty Alleviation Programme and support the state’s energy roadmap and master plan for 2040.

The meeting between BIMP-EAGA Business Council representatives and Sedco officials, chaired by Haizar R.H. Ajaz Nabijan, Group General Manager of Sedco, laid the foundation for a fruitful partnership.

The presence of key Sedco officials such as Azrul Ahmad and Yahyah Sidek underscored the commitment to collaboration for sustainable economic development.

With the support of Sedco, the Blue Economy Development Project is poised to play a pivotal role in achieving Sabah’s goals at both regional and international levels.

This initiative not only aligns with the BIMP-EAGA programme but also sets the stage for future endeavours, including the operation of ferry services from Kudat to Palawan.

The collaborative efforts between the private sector represented by the BIMP-EAGA Business Council and Sedco signify a significant step towards driving sustainable economic growth and addressing socio-economic challenges in Sabah.

Through this partnership, the stage is set for a transformative journey towards a more prosperous and environmentally conscious future for the region.
