College student dies after falling from 22nd-floor condominium in Setapak

AN 18-year-old private college student died after falling from the 22nd floor of a condominium along Jalan Langkawi in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur on Monday.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Assistant Commissioner Annas Sulaiman said the condominium had been converted into a hostel for students of the private college.

He said the first-semester student was seen arriving at the residence at 7.07am.

“At about 8.50am, police received a call from a security guard informing them of the incident.

“Preliminary investigations and a review of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage found that the victim arrived at the residence at 7.07am before falling from a corridor on the 22nd floor,” he said in a statement.

Annas said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer.

He said the case was currently classified as a sudden death report (SDR), with further investigations under way to complete the investigation papers. - September 1, 2026
