MANILA, Philippines — For transparency, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday conducted a media walkthrough of the data center for the 2026 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections.
Members of the media were given the opportunity to have a walkthrough in Data Center (DC) 1 in VITRO Makati 2 (ePLDT), a facility with layers of security.
"We also had a walkthrough previously so that there will be no allegation that there are secret servers," Comelec Chairman George Garcia said in Filipino and English before an audience, including the media, in the facility prior to the walkthrough.
"This is DC 1. This is where the Comelec server is. That is why this is said to be the most secure of all because the server of the Commission on Elections is here," Garcia said.
The Comelec has a backup server with VITRO in Parañaque which was also opened to the media for a walkthrough.
"So it is our obligation, not only ours in the Comelec but likewise VITRO, all of you, it is our obligation that the results not only be fast but [also] credible and acceptable and the only way to do that is to be more transparent," Garcia said.
The Bangsamoro people will cast votes for parliament members on Sept. 14. This election involves 80 seats.
