Comelec defers BARMM parliamentary polls

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has postponed the holding of the parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on March 30, 2026.

Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia on Wednesday said that “legally and operationally”, the elections could no longer be done on March 30,2026.

"The [Comelec] en banc approved a resolution that officially declare the postponement of the March 30, 2026 Banghsamoro parliamentary elections," Garcia said.

He said all activities under Comelec Resolution 11181 and 11184 or the Calendar of activities in connection with the BARMM parliamentary elections have been set aside.
