DEPUTY Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has clarified that the committee intended to discuss the opposition's request for government allocations has not been formed yet.
Fadillah, who also leads the Government Consultative Council Committee, explained that the delay is due to the opposition’s failure to submit an official proposal outlining their requests.
“I can only establish a committee at both the government and opposition levels once I receive the proposal. Once that happens, we can begin our discussions. But as of now, there’s nothing to discuss,” Bernama reported Fadillah saying today .
He added, "The opposition has addressed the media, but they have not taken any concrete steps. Without official action, there is little I can do at this stage."
Fadillah made these remarks after attending the Annual Grant Presentation Ceremony for the Village Development and Security Committees, as well as Mosques and Surau in the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency.
Earlier, reports suggested that opposition leaders were under the impression they needed to send a formal letter to Fadillah before the committee could be established.
Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin confirmed that Perikatan Nasional (PN) intends to send a letter to Fadillah seeking clarification on whether they need to submit a formal request for the committee's formation. - March 1, 2025
