SANDAKAN: A community development officer has been remanded for seven days until May 1 by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over suspected bribery involving RM40,000.
The suspect, in his 50s, is believed to have received the money from several individuals and contractors linked to the Rumah Mesra Sabah Maju Jaya housing project.
The remand order was issued by Judge Zaini Fishir at the Sandakan Sessions Court following MACC’s application on Friday morning.
According to sources, the alleged bribes were received between 2022 and 2025 in exchange for awarding housing construction contracts.
He was detained at around 2pm on Thursday while giving his statement at the MACC Sandakan office.
