Klang Mayor Dato’ Abd Hamid Hussain said that among the measures taken includes seizing lorries used for such purposes for one month.
“According to the Local Government Act 1976, individuals involved in illegal waste disposal activities can be fined RM1,000.
“However, for companies involved in illegal dumping in Sungai Klang, MBDK will seize the lorries used for a month if they are found guilty,” he said.
Hamid was speaking to the press after launching mudballs during the River Ranger 2.0: River Cleanup programme at the Kampung Sungai Udang Fishermen’s Jetty today.
He also urged local residents to act as MBDK’s eyes and ears by reporting any illegal waste dumping activities to help maintain Sungai Klang’s cleanliness.
